Twilight Hotel

Winnipeg has spawned many excellent folk artists – Neil Young and Big Dave McLean, to name two – so it’s no surprise that Twilight Hotel are making a name for themselves all over North America.

Brandy Zdan and Dave Quanbury’s third record (the second under the Twilight Hotel moniker) is another strong, old-timey piece of Americana. The record is loaded with infectious choruses and brilliant boy-girl harmonies, but it’s the passionate interplay between the real-life couple that could make the duo today’s June and Johnny.

There’s a lot to like here: Viva La Vinyl is a rollicking party song, with its swing-like vibe and 50s rockabilly guitar, while the sensitive acoustic track Impatient Love is straight out of the Cash era.
