Review: The Province

Twilight Hotel is Winnipeg couple Dave Quanbury and Brandy Zdan and they have some kind of special little CD here. Produced in Nashville by Colin Linden and featuring the great keyboardist Richard Bell (Crowbar, Janis Joplin, The Band) on his last session before his death, this ranges from the funky rockabilly feel of “Viva La Vinyl” to the waltz time narrative of a couple of illegal immigrants, “The Ballad of Salvador and Isabelle.” The instrumentation is beautifully chosen, the guitars are delicious, the harmonies wonderfully compelling. B+
