When The Wolves Go Blind is Twilight Hotel’s follow up to their Juno-winning sophomore
album, Highway Prayer. Comprised of Brandy Zdan and Dave Quanbury, Twilight Hotel
takes an old-time alt.country approach to their original compositions that tell vivid tales of
life, longing and traveling down dusty trails. Recorded in Los Angeles with producer John
Whynot and Tom Waits’ drummer, Stephen Hodges, When The Wolves Go Blind also features
the talents of Jeff Turmes (bass/banjo/saxophone) and Andrew Lynch (flugal horn).
But it’s the striking harmonies and lead vocals of Zdan and Ouanbury, along with their compelling songwriting, that make this CD such a winning proposition. Dark, moody and suitably laid back, When The Wolves Go Blind lingers in the mind long after the record ends. Impressive. – John Sharpe Performance: A/Production: A-
